OCTOBRIANA WITH LOVE #1

(W) Stephanie Phillips, Stuart Taylor, Andrea Towers (A) Simon Fraser, Marc Laming, N. Steven Harris, Andy Belanger, Stephen Byrne, Juni Ba, Vincenzo Riccardi (CA) Marguerite Sauvage

David Bowie was going to make a superhero movie about her.

Billy Idol has a tattoo of her.

And now, 50 years since her debut, celebrate the return of one of the most enigmatic comic book characters that you've never heard of...

OCTOBRIANA WITH LOVE is an all-star, 64-page, full color softcover graphic novel, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the cult underground Russian superhero by an exciting mix of creative talent.

For centuries, immortal warrior woman Octobriana has been the champion of the oppressed. Leading a rag-tag group of freedom fighters, Octobriana travels the dimensional highways in her Wonder Machine, disrupting authoritarian regimes, overturning tyrants... and gate-crashing the best parties!

In OCTOBRIANA WITH LOVE, Octobriana and her underground take on a daring rescue mission above the skies of a near future Britain to rescue Lucretia Hussain, a young vlogger destined to be a figurehead for a future revolution. To correct the course of history Octobriana clashes with her ancient nemesis Baba Yaga, leading Octobriana to relive her past and setting the stage for a whole new universe of adventures. SEP211446

Why this caught my eye:

It's always worth seeing what people are doing with Octobriana, and I love the set up of her ancient battle with Baba Yaga. There's some pretty great talent attached to this, and I love that Sauvage cover.

Why this caught my eye:

I love Scott for her Transformers work and Coehlo's art is a ton of fun, plus I'm a sucker for multiversal stories.

GETTING DIZZY #1

(W) Shea Fontana (A/CA) Celia Moscote

Dizzy wants to be the best! But in the case of everything she's tried, including roller skating, this teen has only been able to achieve one thing - disaster.

Just when she is ready to pack it in, everything changes when the Negatrixes attack, forcing her to take up the mantle of 'Burb Defender!

But if she wants to save the world, she's going to have to assemble the coolest skating crew in the 'Burbs.

Why this caught my eye:

I can always do with a YA focused superhero title with a 'power of friendship' take as a nice breather from the usual doom and gloom.

DAVE STEVENS ROCKETEER ARTISTS ED HC

(W) Dave Stevens (A/CA) Dave Stevens

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the debut of The Rocketeer in comics with this beautiful book showcasing the art of one of the masters of the!

In April of 1982, The Rocketeer debuted as a backup feature from Pacific Comics. From those humble beginnings the artistry of Dave Stevens caught the imaginations of countless readers and became a worldwide sensation, even being turned into a big-budget feature film! And in 2010 when IDW launched its award-winning Artist's Edition series, The Rocketeer was the inaugural release, even winning two coveted Eisner Awards that year. The book quickly sold out and went into a second printing. Now, more than ten years later, is soaring back with a new 40th anniversary printing.

As with all Artist's Editions, the pages reproduced in this book have been meticulously scanned from the original art. Readers will be able to peruse these pages and see all the quirks and nuances that make original art so unique-blue pencil notations, white out, gradients in the ink, and so much more. Unless you were looking over Dave's shoulder as he painstakingly drew these pages, this is your best chance to see the art of The Rocketeer as close to the originals as possible!

Why this caught my eye:

Yikes, 10 years since the last edition of this? Well, if you missed it the past couple times it's well worth picking up, IDW does an amazing job with these artist's editions.

Why this caught my eye:

I'm always down for some Zdarsky, and I really like the set-up for this story.

That's it for this batch, we'll hit up some LGTBQ+ material on the next round.
