Time for some obligatory swords and sorcery as we check out a few upcoming fantasy titles.
You'll see that I'll try to include a little order code with most items (ex:JUL200019). Show some love to your retailer and use those codes when you can, it saves a lot of time on the data entry end of things.
CRIMSON FLOWER #1
(W) Matt Kindt (A/CA) Matt Lesniewski
From New York Times-bestselling Mind MGMT creator Matt Kindt and Matt Lesniewski (The Freak) comes a brand-new, mind-altering journey through Russian folk tales, trained assassins, and government conspiracies. After losing her family in a violent home invasion, a woman uses folk tales to cope. In a blood-soaked journey toward revenge, she tracks down the man responsible for her family's deaths, only to discover a startling government plot-to weaponize folk tales and use them to raise children into super assassins.

Why this caught my eye:
Other than being down with Lesniewski's unique art style, I really enjoyed Kindt's last fantasy turn with Folklords and I'm interested in seeing him explore Russian folklore.
MAIDEN #1 (OF 8)
(W) Michelle Sears, Bart Sears (A/CA) Bart Sears
A young woman has forfeited her soul to a supernatural force of vengeance, never to be redeemed, devoted to annihilation as completely as her servant, the inscrutable and frightening Hag, is devoted to her. Haunting tales of unrelenting, unrepentant revenge. An epic mythos that spans time, worlds and genre, the horrifyingly tragic curse of the Maiden is written in the blood of many. Maiden is the boogeyman of a new generation.

Why this caught my eye:
It's been a while since I've checked out any Bart Sears projects, and I'm generally interested in Heavy Metal's sudden proliferation of sci-fi/fantasy titles.
LAST DANCE GN
(W) Hanna Schroy (A) Hanna Schroy
Miriam has trained her whole life to fulfill her dreams and it's finally paid off now that she's the prima ballerina, but she's been keeping a secret. The years of sprains, fractures, and bruises have been taking their toll, and she has to give it all up forever. Distraught, Miriam runs from the studio and discovers a secret room she's never seen before. Inside she finds a pair of gleaming white and gold slippers, and a mysterious voice whispering to her in the dark. If she tries on the slippers, it says, she'll regain the strength to raise en pointe. Soon, Miriam is back, but each achievement on her journey back means more negotiation with the spirit who claims it wants just one harmless thing in return... to join the ballerinas and dance, just like her.

Why this caught my eye:
I really like Schroy's style and the preview pages for this project look great. I also just think Iron Circus Comics deserve as much support as they can get, so go check out more of their books.
KULL SAVAGE ORIGINAL MARVEL YEARS OMNIBUS HC
(W) Roy Thomas, More (A) E.R. Cruz, More (CA) Michael Whelan
Thousands of years before the dawn of Conan, barbarian tribes rose across the Thurian continent, threatening the civilizations whose crumbling city walls still stood against them. In this ruthless age, there rose a man-an exile, no less-who would come to rule mighty Atlantis in the years before it crashed beneath the waves. This man was Kull and a host of Marvel's greatest talents would chronicle his saga-his exile and savage youth; his exploits on the high seas; his rise through the gladiatorial pits and military ranks; his reign as king; and his epic battles with the skull-faced sorcerer Thulsa Doom.
Experience Kull's complete black-and-white magazine tales in this Omnibus volume, all painstakingly restored from the highest fidelity materials in Marvel's archives.

NOV200606
Why this caught my eye:
There's just a ton of material here by a bunch of great talents (I love Arcudi and didn't even realize he worked on any of this stuff), so you're getting a lot of bang for your buck in this package.

Why this caught my eye:
I like Glass' art style and and the plot sounds interesting, plus I generally just like to give most Boom fantasy titles a shot.
That's it for this batch! We'll check out some superhero stuff next time around.
