GREEN ARROW #1

Written by JOSHUA WILLIAMSON

Art and cover by SEAN IZAAKSE

$3.99 US | 32 pages | 1 of 6 | Variant $4.99 US (card stock)

ON SALE 4/25/23

The Emerald Archer is lost, and it will take Oliver Queen's whole family to find him! But dangerous forces are determined to keep them apart at any cost! Spinning out of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Green Arrow by DC architect Joshua Williamson (Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths, Superman) and artist Sean Izaakse (Thunderbolts) is an action-packed adventure across the DCU that sets the stage for major stories in 2023!

Why this caught my eye:

I generally try not to have too much hope, but it looks like they're aiming for a full cast of the Arrow family and it's been a looooooong time since I've seen Connor. I've just missed him, the last I remember was that they finally brought him back into continuity but he was in a coma? DC hurts me.

SUPERMAN: LOST #1

Written by CHRISTOPHER PRIEST

Art and cover by CARLO PAGULAYAN and JASON PAZ

$4.99 US | 32 pages | 1 of 10 | Variant $5.99 US

SUPERMAN'S ODYSSEY OF SOLITUDE!

After Superman is called away on a routine Justice League mission, Lois Lane awakens to find a complete stranger standing in her living room. The Man of Steel, home much sooner than expected, reveals he has, in fact, been lost in space for 20 years. Nothing and no one seem familiar to him anymore, and the timeless bond between them has been severed...or has it? Can love conquer all?

Superman's 85th anniversary celebration continues with this allnew blockbuster 10-issue series from the creators of the Eisner-nominated Deathstroke series!

Why this caught my eye:

A nice self contained Priest run just sounds like a fun ride.

SANDMAN MYSTERY THEATRE COMPENDIUM ONE

$59.99 US | 984 pages | 6 5/8" x 10 3/16" | Softcover |

ON SALE 3/21/23

In this noir collection, millionaire Wesley Dodds becomes the Sandman to fight injustice in 1930s New York City, going after kidnappers, blackmailers, and predators who prey on rich socialites. Armed with a tranquilizing gas gun and driven by an unrelenting sense of justice, the Sandman moves through a decadent post-Depression landscape, stalking the predators who hide themselves beneath society's callous indifference to the weak and vulnerable.

This first of two compendiums collects Sandman Mystery Theatre #1-36 and Sandman Mystery Theatre Annual #1 and features an introduction from comedian Patton Oswalt, the voice of Matthew the Raven on Netflix's The Sandman!

Why this caught my eye:

While I would prefer this to be in the Absolute format, I'm still surprised to see them bother. Definitely worth your time.

Offered again!

Gotham City, 1928. Twenty years have passed since a madman slew the parents of young Bruce Wayne, heir to one of the oldest fortunes in Gotham City. Then, Bruce fled the carnage of Gotham and the unearthly voice warning him to prepare for the world to come. Now Bruce Wayne has returned. And hell has followed…A terrible thing from beyond space and time has awakened. The Lurker on the Threshold has called its faithful servants—immortal sorcerers, reptile men, beings of eldritch cold and fungal horror—to feed our world into its gaping maw.

Join acclaimed comics talents Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Richard Pace (Robert E. Howard's Savage Sword), and Troy Nixey (Harley Quinn) as they present Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, a terrifying reimagining of the greatest heroes and villains in the Batman mythos.

Collects Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham #1-3.

Why this caught my eye:

The last time this was printed was in those Elseworlds collections, so I guess it's nice to get a standalone version. I'm wary of the animated version catching the tone because a lot of the charm in this was the creepy Troyy Nixey artwork, so definitely make it a point to check this out if you've never had the chance and want a little Lovecraft in your Gotham.

SUPERBOY: THE MAN OF TOMORROW #1

Written by KENNY PORTER

Art and cover by JAHNOY LINDSAY

$3.99 US | 32 pages | 1 of 6 | Variant $4.99 US (card stock)

ON SALE 4/18/23

Conner Kent takes center stage! After the events of Dark Crisis, Conner feels out of place with the rest of the hero community. He doesn't fit in with the rest of the Superman Family, and the rest of the world doesn't really need him with so many Supers in Metropolis. He doesn't want to rely on Tim, Cassie, and Bart, so Conner looks to the stars as a place he might be able to call his own and carve out his own path. But what lurksin the great unknown? Are bravado and swagger enough to help Superboy find his new calling? This is the 2022 Round Robin winner—picked by you, the fans!

Why this caught my eye:

It's just nice to see the other Conner back as well.

UNSTOPPABLE DOOM PATROL #1

Written by DENNIS CULVER

Art and cover by CHRIS BURNHAM

$3.99 US | 32 pages | 1 of 6 | Variant $4.99 US (card stock)

ON SALE 3/28/23

THE WORLD'S STRANGEST HEROES ARE BACK IN THE DC UNIVERSE!

After the events of Lazarus Planet, more people than ever have active metagenes! Most of these new metahumans have become misfits, shunned and imprisoned by a fearful society. They are hidden away in the dark, lost to a system that only sees them as weapons or guinea pigs—ticking time bombs that can only be defused by the Unstoppable Doom Patrol! Robotman, Elasti-Woman, and Negative Man are joined by their brand-new teammates Beast Girl and Degenerate and led by Crazy Jane's mysterious new alter, the Chief, on a mission of saving the world by saving the monsters!

Why this caught my eye:

I've not read much by Culver, but I do love Burnham and always hold out hope for fun Doom Patrol stories.

TOP 10 COMPENDIUM

Written by ALAN MOORE, ZANDER CANNON, KEVIN CANNON, and others Art by GENE HA, ZANDER CANNON, and others

Cover by ALEX ROSS $59.99 US | 832 pages | 6 5/8" x 10 3/16" | Softcover

ON SALE 4/11/23

From writer Alan Moore (Watchmen, V for Vendetta) and artist Gene Ha (Justice League) comes this sci-fi epic following the exploits of the police officers of Precinct 10—or Top 10—as they contend with science villains and super-crimes in the vast city of Neopolis and beyond.

This softcover compendium collects the entire Eisner Award-winning series and its spin-offs, including Top Ten #1-12, America's Best Comics Special #1, Smax #1-5, Top Ten: The Forty-Niners, Top Ten: Beyond the Farthest Precinct #1-5, Top Ten: Season Two #1-4, and Top Ten: Season Two Special #1.

Why this caught my eye:

I'm well overdue for a re-read, but Top 10 was one of my favorite Alan Moore projects if not one of my favorite superhero series of all time. I feel like it's kind of forgotten, or overlooked now? So here, make it a point to check it out.

ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN FOR ALL SEASONS

Written by JEPH LOEB

Art and cover by TIM SALE

$100.00 US | 368 pages | 8 1/8" x 12 1/4" | Hardcover

ON SALE 8/29/23

Before Superman became a living legend and icon, he was just a farm boy in Kansas named Clark who was coming to terms with the enormous power that he was blessed with. Driven by the desire to do more with his abilities, Clark moves from Smallville to Metropolis, makes new friends and enemies, and embarks on a legacy that will change the world.

Written and illustrated by the Eisner Award-winning team of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, Superman for All Seasons is an imaginative and beautifully illustrated tale of the Man of Steel's formative years. Featuring the stunning colors of artist Bjarne Hansen over Sale's bold linework, this edition is a tribute to both the Man of Tomorrow and the incomparable Tim Sale.

This oversize Absolute edition collects Superman for All Seasons #1-4 plus stories from Superman #226, Superman/Batman #26, Solo #1, and Superman/Batman Secret Files 2003 #1. Also included are two new forewords by Sale's frequent collaborators Jeph Loeb and Richard Starkings.

Why this caught my eye:

Lots of reprints on this installment, but this is definitely a gem worth picking up. That Sale artwork and the lush coloring will look great in the oversized format, and the extra issues look like a solid selection to beef it all up.

That's it for this batch, we'll hit up some indy superhero on the next round!
