Upcoming Comics Spotlight: Action /Adventure

This batch features WWII dinos, mystery solving tv sidekicks, prehistoric warriors, ultimate adventurers, and hyper violent martial artists, so a good time will be had by all.

You'll see that I'll try to include a little order code with most items (ex:FEB211476). Show some love to your retailer and use those codes when you can, it saves a lot of time on the data entry end of things.

(W) Bill Groshelle, Brendan Cahill (A) German Peralta (CA) Randy Gaul

WWII. The Pacific. A mythic adventure unfolds as three American soldiers-a disgraced ex-cop, a mobster trying to escape his past, and an intelligence officer with mysterious motives-investigate a top-secret Japanese superweapon: a deadly force of trained dinosaurs! o WWII buffs will love the historical accuracy, everyone will love the dinosaurs!

Why this caught my eye:

I mean there's a decent chance this might just be schlock, but I just noticed that T-Rex has samurai armor on so I mean....c'mon.

(W) Kyle Starks (A/CA) Chris Schweizer

For fans of CHEW and ASSASSIN NATION comes a new action-mystery series from Eisner Award nominees CHRIS SCHWEIZER (Crogan Adventures) and KYLE STARKS (SEXCASTLE). The world's most unlikable action star has been found dead, and his previous TV sidekicks are looking to solve the mystery. But how can you catch a murderer when almost everyone hated the victim? Now these sidekicks are going to learn what it means to be the stars of the show...that is, if any of them survive the STUNTMAN WAR!

Why this caught my eye:

I just really like that pitch, it sounds like a lot of fun.

(W) Norman Maurer, Joe Kubert (A) Mort Meskin (A/CA) Joe Kubert

Tor the prehistoric warrior is a loner whose only true friend is his pet monkey, Chee-Chee. Joe Kubert described Tor as superior to the others in his clan, with an extra spark of humanity, who was instinctively striving for a better, more civilized way of life and with thanks to the work and obvious love that went into the series, what might have become a standard adventure strip, with man battling monster within the unusual prehistoric-world settings and situations was actually elevated to art! We're positive you'll love the thrills, adventure and danger that lurked everywhere one million years ago! Collects Tor #1, 3,4, 5 (September 1953-October 1954) and NAZA Stone Age Warrior (November 1963).

Why this caught my eye:

It's cool to have these available in a nice package, plus you can get the soft cover version now as an alternative.

(W) Robert Mackenzie, Dave Walker (A/CA) Justin Greenwood

GREG RUCKA proudly presents a new direction in adventure with... COMPASS! Shahidah El-Amin is many things: scholar, cartographer, astronomer, mathematician, scientist, explorer, adventurer, and - when need be - two-fisted fighter. Setting out from Baghdad's legendary House of Wisdom during the Islamic Golden Age, Shahi's quest brings her to 13th-century Britain... where the Welsh are whispered to possess the secret of eternal life. But Shahi's not the only one after it...

Re-teaming from the pages of THE OLD GUARD: TALES THROUGH TIME, writers ROBERT MACKENZIE and DAVE WALKER (LAZARUS SOURCEBOOK) and artist JUSTIN GREENWOOD (Stumptown, THE FUSE, THE LAST SIEGE) take you on a breathless race. Follow the Compass to unlock the secrets of the ancient world!

Why this caught my eye:

The preview pages looked like fun and I just like the sound of Shahi being this ultimate adventurer.

(W) Buronson (A/CA) Tetsuo Hara

In a postapocalyptic world, humanity has risen from the ashes of nuclear war, but only to a nightmare of endless suffering. It is a time of chaos. Gangs of savage marauders and warlords rule the broken ruins of civilization, terrorizing and enslaving the survivors. Life has become a brutal struggle for existence and death the only release.

Why this caught my eye:

I've always loved the over the top violent nature of FOTNS, so it's cool to see a new printing made available. Now I just have to figure out if I should update and get rid of my old copies....

That's it for this batch, next up we'll hit some crime/suspense material.
